Patent status
United States patent protection is being pursued for BoardWalk’s requirement-to-evidence provenance method — the mechanism by which a requirement’s recorded status is bound to verifiable evidence pinned to a specific commit, carried through an append-only trail, and checkable outside the product by a party with no account. A patent application is currently in preparation and has not yet been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
“Patent pending” means an application has been filed and prosecution has not concluded. It does not mean a patent has issued, and it confers no enforceable patent rights unless and until one does. The notice is updated if that status changes.
The trademark
BoardWalk™, the wordmark, and the plane-and-road mark are trademarks of LockedIn Labs, used to identify this product. The ™ symbol asserts use of the name as a mark. No federal registration has issued.
Third-party product names that appear on this site — on the comparison pages in particular — are the trademarks of their respective owners. They appear to identify the products under discussion, and their appearance implies no affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement in either direction.
Third-party licenses
BoardWalk ships on open-source software, and this section discloses it. The table below lists every direct production dependency with the license identifier declared in its package manifest. The inventory is generated from the dependency lockfile and installed package metadata. Transitive dependencies carry their own licenses and remain recorded in the lockfile.

One entry deserves its footnote. pptxgenjs is carried as a vendored copy inside this repository rather than fetched from the registry, under its upstream MIT license; the version suffix marks the vendored build. Each MIT-licensed package’s copyright and permission notice is preserved in the package’s own distribution as that license requires.
The customer’s content is not ours
Nothing on this page reaches what a customer records in the product. The terms state the boundary: the customer owns everything it records, and the license granted to us is the narrow one needed to operate the service. This page is about the software and its name, not the register inside it.
Changes
The effective date moves when patent status, trademark status or the generated dependency inventory changes.
